Willamina is a perfect point of entry to the Nestucca River recreation area where the options are unlimited. This scenic byway will take you all the way to the coast on one of Oregon's most beautiful drives. Or just venture 20 minutes out of town for recreation opportunities in Oregon's lush coastal hills. Niagara Falls offers an invigorating mile hike rewarded with a perfect place for a picnic in between two incredible falls. The Whipup trailhead has access to 103 different trails where cycles, mountain bikes, and hikers are all welcome. The year was 1879 when a pioneer woman fell off her horse into a swift river. The river and the town still bear her name. That “get back on your horse” pioneer spirit is alive and well in Willamina, having faced many challenges we persevere. Home to one of the most technologically advanced mills in the country Willamina honors its timber history, while recognizing the need to diversify.
